Finding a hosting provider

There are many hosting providers out there and you are welcome to find your own or talk to us and we can make a recommendation for you. The main things to look out for are outlined below:

• Doing a search of Google for "Web Hosting Australia", will bring up a number of options and reviews of hosting providers. The problem with this is that many of the hosting providers pay affiliate commissions to people who write the reviews and this confounds the reviews and in my experience, the hosting providers who pay the most commission get the highest ratings - and they are often the worst.
• Hosting costs are lower if your site is hosted in the USA, but Google uses hosting location as part of the algorithm. Perhaps because of site speed.  There is just no way that US hosting can be faster than Australian hosting if you take into account the round trip. We have regularly seen website speeds improve by a factor of 2 for Australian's where the  site is hosted in Australia compared with the US. That is why we only use Aussie hosting - even if it costs more.
• You get what you pay for in hosting. If you buy cheap, you will get old technology, that's packed out with lot's of other websites on the shared system. These other sites can slow your site at random times, and are often poorly maintained or get hacked - all of which effects your website and email delivery. Pay a price that's appropriate for the job you need.
• When you get your own hosting provider, it's your account. If something goes wrong, you can ring them or put in a ticket to get it fixed. You will be dealing directly with the hosting providers help desk. When you work with us - you call us and we take care of the rest.
